C++ is an important programming language, but there is no dedicated conference for its practitioners, library developers, and researchers. Various technical conferences have included C++ tracks with limited content. Some industry luminaries have conducted a few intense gatherings for advanced C++ developers with a lot of C++ content. Of course BoostCon, the annual conference for Boost’s C++ library developers and users, focused on Boost libraries while also including general C++ tutorial and language research sessions. However, none of these is the conference the general C++ community needs or deserves.
To meet the need for a dedicated C++ conference, BoostCon is expanding to include more tutorial and general C++ content, especially addressing the new C++ standard, C++11. The content that has been the mainstay of BoostCon – Boost libraries, advanced library design, and research topics – will remain a significant part of the conference. BoostCon is expanding, not ending.
To mark this transition, the conference name is changing to C++ Now! This name reflects the current value of the language, the focus on its new state (from the new standard), and the need to continually look to the future so the language remains useful to the C++ community. There will be more sessions and that means more attendees. However, the goal is to grow enough to include this extra content while retaining the intimacy and high speaker-to-attendee ratio that have been the hallmarks of the BoostCon experience.
Make plans now to attend the conference, to be held 13-18 May, 2012 in-cooperation with ACM.

I’m looking forward to the conference, regardless of what it is called! It is by far the most beneficial and rewarding event I attend throughout the year.
Where will the conference be held?
BoostCon has always been held, and C++ Now! will continue to be held — for the foreseeable future — at the Aspen Center for Physics in Aspen, CO, USA.

Nice! Is there an RSS feed so I can follow updates without remembering to visit this site?
